The Lightyears open another fantastic line up – they are now playing Wembley and have an international reputation. Australian band Spargo add another nationality to the festival pedigree. Stone Shuffle Jones blow the crowd away with a stunning set. Bellarosa Connection now well known as Hoodlums.

Adrian Nation makes the first acoustic spot on the main stage. Duluth from Scandinavia are the first overseas band to play the festival. Vibrators stop off from their permanent world tour for first time.

The day of the thunder and lightning and the Skatejam with The lead singer announcing ‘we’re all going to die’ as lightning flashed all around – quite possible as the stage wasn’t earthed. Little Joe Zero’s drummer famously played in his underpants at 11pm as the music went on till midnight.The First Music Festival

The PA and lights were plugged into the café. The first ever band to play were Tattered ‘n Torn – they had to go on early as they had another gig later. I think it was ‘Dead in a Minute’s’ and ‘Tsunami’s only gigs. Ray 100 have now matured into CAV Ok. Dean Hughes, Gutsy and Andy Kearton formed headline band Ritalin who didn’t go on till 11
