As some of you know 2021 was going to be the last ever BFMF. Covid restrictions and pressure on everyone’s finances, coupled with several of our longest serving committee members deciding to call it a day, meant it was going to be an almost impossible task to keep the festival going.
But the spirit of the Brightlingsea Free Music Festival has been rekindled and with a revamped enthusiastic committee plus some very generous sponsorship from our local authorities and businesses we have put together what promises to be an absolutely amazing festival for 2022.
We are keeping to our ethos of giving aspiring new acts a chance to perform in front of a friendly live audience, whilst ensuring there is something to please everyone’s taste in music.
Our posters this year have been designed again by the fantastic art students at the Colne and you will see them around the town and on our Facebook Page. Well done to Nico for coming up with the winning design.
We have also taken the opportunity to revamp our t-shirt logo. So why not be one of the first to be wearing our new t-shirts this year. They will be on sale at the Info Tent.
Amazingly we have been able to keep the festival a FREE entry event but it does cost over £20,000 to put on. Much of this is covered by our generous sponsors and advertisers but we do still have to rely heavily on you good people who come to support the festival to dig deep and spare whatever you can on the day by popping a few quid in the collecting buckets and buying a few raffle tickets. This year there will also be the option of donating using your mobile phones as there will be QR codes dotted around the site.
Finally a big thank you has to go to our committee of Simon Robinson, Ali-May Watson, Gary Hill, Bob Walsh, and Kate Deyn plus a special mention to Gary Gilders, Donna Carr, Andrew Watson, Lyndsey Winton, and Claire Russell, and not forgetting our intrepid raffler Chrissy Edwards and all the other volunteers over the weekend.
Have an amazing time everyone and fingers crossed for good weather!
