MISSISSIPPI MACDONALD AND THE COTTONMOUTH KINGS
Mississippi MacDonald is a 3 times British Blues Awards nominee, and is based in London, England. He has been playing since he was 11 years old and has travelled extensively on the US blues trail, meeting, amongst others, Pinetop Perkins, Willie Big Eyes Smith, Otis Clay and BB King. Recently, Mississippi has played with US harmonica legend Steve Bailey - a member of the Isaac Scott Band and who toured with, amongst others, John Lee Hooker.
In 2010, Mississippi was part of the team that purchased a gravestone in Memphis, TN for the late Hi Records recording artist and southern soul giant, OV Wright.
The Cottonmouth Kings are Mississippi MacDonald (Guitar and Vocals), Rossco Blues (Harmonica), Phil Dearing (Bass) and Rob Wilson (Drums). Rossco Blues has been playing harmonica for over 50 years and once played with Sonny Terry. Rob Wilson has been playing for over 30 years, and is the owner of London’s world-famous Footes Music store. Phil Dearing is a producer, multi-instrumentalist and founder of L-Sound Studios.
In 2015, their album American Accent reached #3 in the British Blues Charts, and was the Independent Blues Broadcasters Association Pick of the Month for June. Bluesandsoulshow.com rated the album as ͞....one of the best albums of 2015...., and Blues In The South said it was ͞...a terrific mix of blues ballads and a truly outstanding gospel.
